This workshop will give social workers practical tools to use in their everyday lives for self-care. Participants will explore the concepts of mindfulness and self-compassion using interactive activities including meditation, mindful movement, and reflective writing. The research on these practices for self-care will also be examined. Common barriers to self-care, such as compassion fatigue and burnout, and how to address those, will also be explored. Participants will walk away with a toolbox of resources to help them on their self-care journey. Caitlin Brown, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Master of Social Work, and founder of Mindful Detroit, will lead the workshop.
