Mindful Detroit LLC YOGA THERAPY DISCLOSURE AND RELEASE

             

  This Yoga Therapy Disclosure and Release (“terms”) is incorporated into Mindful Detroit LLC’s (“we” or “our”) general Terms and Conditions, available for review at this link: www.mindfuldetroit.com/termsconditions. By using our website or any yoga activity we offer, you agree to these terms.

 Yoga therapy is intended to reduce and/or manage symptoms that cause suffering: Improve function; help to prevent the occurrence or re-occurrence of underlying causes of illness or imbalance and move toward improved health and well-being.  Though we cannot guarantee any particular results, we will work with you to develop and implement a self-empowering therapeutic plan, oriented toward prevention and health promotion, appropriate to your needs, goals, and life circumstances.

               Yoga Therapy includes practices such as asana (movements), pranayama (breath-work), relaxation, meditation, mudra (hand gestures), bandha (energy locks), mantra (sacred sounds), mindfulness, bhavana (imagery), sankalpa (affirmation/intention), yoga nidra (guided rest), chakra exploration (energy centers), yogic lifestyle, yoga philosophy, and other practices in the yoga tradition.

  Our yoga therapist, Caitlin Brown, has completed an 800- hour certification in Yoga Therapy through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, which is accredited through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Caitlin is a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level (E-RYT 500) through Yoga Alliance.

  Yoga Therapy is not a licensed health care profession in the state of Michigan. 

               All exercise programs involve a risk of injury.  By choosing to participate in Yoga Therapy with us, you voluntarily assume this risk of injury.  The following guidelines will help reduce your risk of injury:

              Listen to and follow Caitlin’s instructions carefully.

              Breathe smoothly and continuously as you move and stretch.

              Do not hold your breath and strain to attain any position.

              Work gently, respecting your body’s abilities and limits.

              Pay attention to pain and moderate as appropriate.

              Ask Caitlin if you are unsure about any movement or other instruction.

               It is always advisable to consult with your physician before embarking on any exercise program.  We will give you a Yoga Therapy Intake Form which inquires about your health.  You must complete the form and inform us of any health conditions that could be affected by your practice of yoga.  If you are unsure about a condition, please speak to Caitlin.

               Awareness is key to the practice of yoga.  It is your responsibility to monitor each activity and determine whether it is appropriate for you to participate.  Though Caitlin is your Yoga Therapist, you remain primarily responsible for your safety and well-being and should always consult your healthcare provider regarding any concerns.

              Under our general Terms and Conditions which govern these terms, you assume all risk of damage or injury that may occur as a client in our Yoga Therapy and release us and our owners, employees, contractors, or agents from any damages that may occur as a result of your use of our services.
