This beginner-level workshop discusses Yoga and Mindfulness as two CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) approaches for pain management. The workshop gives a background on CAM, an overview of Mindfulness and Yoga, and research on each approach's efficacy for pain. The workshop includes experiential activities, contraindications & modifications, and what these approaches look like in social work practice. It ends with a brief overview of the research on other CAM techniques for pain.
What are people saying about Mindful Detroit’s Ce workshops?
“Caitlin Brown did an excellent job describing the positive aspects of CAM, mindfulness, and yoga for pain management, combining social work and traditional medicine. She also included activities which helped define practice techniques.”
-Yoga & Mindfulness for Pain Management workshop participant
“I liked the ability to practice and experience the mindfulness and yoga within the training. As social workers, it is also important we take time to use techniques on ourselves. We must practice what we teach/preach.”
-Yoga & Mindfulness for Pain Management workshop participant
“Your workshop was phenomenal! It is so clear a lot of thought and planning went into it and it is the best workshop I’ve been to in some time!”
